China’s Great Wall Motors joins Tula industrial park as first resident company

TULA, April 24. /TASS/. The Tula Region in central Russia can provide sites for about 20 world producers of auto spare parts and components, the regional development corporation said on Friday after a major Chinese auto firm joined the local industrial park. China’s Great Wall Motors has decided to become the first resident company of the Uzlovaya industrial park in the Tula Region and plans to build a plant there to manufacture Haval cars. "Leading world producers of auto parts and components view the largest industrial site in the Tula Region as an option of localizing their output in Russia, in particular, this relates to the Uzlovaya industrial park," the regional development corporation said. The Tula Region has held negotiations with potential investors in China as part of the recent Shanghai auto show. Other Chinese auto producers may soon follow the example of Great Wall Motors, the regional development corporation said. "At present, the possibility of organizing local production in the [Uzlovaya] industrial park is being studied by other Chinese auto producers, and also by leading world manufacturers of auto components. We expect that investment deals will be signed in the future," it said. The Uzlovaya technological park in the Tula Region south of Moscow is a major industrial hub in central Russia. The Uzlovaya industrial park covers an area of over 2,500 hectares. The site will be fully ready to receive resident companies in the spring of 2016. Read more
