China’s high-speed train exhibition on display at Bangkok Airport Rail Link

BANGKOK, October 25 (TNA) - China Railway Corporation has organized a Chinese high-speed train exhibition at Makkasan main station of Bangkok's Airport Rail Link. Zhou Li, General Director of China's Science and Technology Management Department, told a press conference on Friday that the one-month exhibition, from October 25-November 25, 2013, displays documentary movies on China’s high-speed train technologies, as well as models of Beijing's railway stations and its CRH 380 A high-speed train system, which produces low noise, saves energy and offers a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour. China and Thailand signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in 2012 on bilateral cooperation in rail development, under which a joint committee has been set up and feasibility studies have been conducted for two routes, one linking Bangkok with northern resort Chiang Mai Province in the Thai North and the other linking the Thai capital with Nongkhai province in the Thai Northeast. The MOU also covers Thai-Sino cooperation on train development projects and personnel training. One of China's successful high-speed train development projects is the one linking Beijing with Guangzhou, the capital and largest city of Guangdong province, as it is the world’s longest high speed train route, which was launched in December 2012. The 2,200-kilometre high-speed train has helped reduce people's traveling time to only about eight hours, from about 20 hours by traditional train service. Earlier, China organized the same exhibition at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok from October 12-13, jointly opened by Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang.
