China hopes that Russia will improve relations with Western countries - foreign ministry

BEIJING, February 15. /TASS/. China hopes that Russia will improve its relations with Western countries, a Chinese Foreign Ministry official spokesperson told TASS on Monday. "We hope that Russia will improve its relations with Western countries," the spokesperson said commenting on Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s speech at Munich Security Conference. "We hope that the international community will make joint efforts to respond to modern challenges in the sphere of peaceful development and cooperation, and will continue to adhere to global peace and development," the spokesperson added. In an interview with The Time magazine, Medvedev said: "I never said that a new Cold War has started." Rather, the actions of NATO are "pushing us toward the emergence of a new Cold War. I said that, and I’m ready to confirm that," he added. The Russian prime minister reminded about NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s speech at Munich Security Conference. Stoltenberg in particular announced plans to station more troops in Eastern Europe. "If this isn’t preparing for another Cold War, what is it for then? For a hot war?
