China looks to simplify customs control on border checkpoints with Russia

BEIJING, April 6. /TASS/. China’s General Administration of Customs intends to introduce mutual recognition of customs control results at Nizhneleninskoe-Tongjiang and Blagoveschensk-Heihe checkpoints, Director of the General Administration Yu Guangzhou told TASS on Wednesday. It is also planned to expand the list for accelerated customs inspection, he added. "Such conditions making possible to speed up clearance of goods were introduced experimentally in August 2014 at Pogranichny-Suifenhe and Poltavka-Dongning checkpoints. The main goal of the new development is to speed up control of vegetables and fruit exported to Russia and timber imported by China. This list is now reviewed and it is expected to comprise bags and packaging materials exported to Russia, corn, mineral and carbonated water, beer, soybeans and certain other items imported by China," the official said. "We expect the experiment will also cover Nizhneleninskoe-Tongjiang and Blagoveschensk-Heihe checkpoints. The new regime will promote cross-border trade and bilateral trade at large," Yu Guangzhou said. Read more
