Chinese FM spokesman: Iran-G5+1 nuclear talks make ˈsome progressˈ

Beijing, April 12, IRNA -- The third round of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany) in Vienna ˈmade some progressˈ, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said. ˈGenerally speaking, the atmosphere of the talks was positive,ˈ Hong told the ministryˈs daily press briefing in Beijing on Thursday. During two days of talks, all sides took part in discussion on specific elements of the agreement, Hong said, and all sides showed willingness to reach the final deal at an early date. Negotiations over the final agreement still face obstacles and differences are inevitable, Hong said, as the issue is a complicated one. The spokesman stressed the constructive attitude of all sides, while dealing with differences, and willingness to resolve each otherˈs concerns through negotiations. ˈChina will continue to play its constructive role in the next round of talks to reach a final agreement at an early date,ˈ said Hong. Iran and the six major world powers are striving to clinch a comprehensive agreement by July 20 and end the current deadlock over Iranˈs nuclear standoff.
