Christofias lacks courage to sign an agreement in Cyprus, says Turkish Cypriot President Eroglu

LEFKOSA (A.A) - Turkish Cypriot President Dervis Eroglu said Saturday that the Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias was afraid of his own people and that he lacked "courage to sign an agreement in Cyprus". Eroglu arrived in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) capital of Lefkosa on Saturday after attending a tripartite meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Greek Cypriot leader Christofias in Greentree, New York. Speaking to reporters at Lefkosa's Ercan International Airport, President Eroglu stressed that Secretary General Ban Ki-moon may hold an international conference on Cyprus at the end of March or beginning of April depending on the report of his Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer. As the Greek Cypriot side did not take any positive steps, we made very little progress at Greentree, Eroglu also said.
