CILE Hosts 2nd Annual International Conference

Doha, March 13 (QNA) - Director of the Office of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, HE Dr. Abdullah bin Hussein Al Kubaisi, who is also board member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development(QF) has underlined that the Second Annual International Conference being organized by the Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) under the slogan / Ethics in a Changing World.....Contemporary Perspectives) is part of the CILE contribution to the promotion of scientific research relevant to issues of Islamic thought and innovation in the field of contemporary Islamic legislation and ethics, intellectually and practically in order to face the current global challenges. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) Dr al-Kubaisi said: "The conference this year highlights the vital issues of concern to the nation and contribute to reforming its situation including media, environment, psychology and gender from Islamic perspectives" He stressed the importance of such conferences which aimed at reforming the nation and advancement based on the principles and constants Islamic values with openness to others and takes advantage of the gains of the civilized nations. The event will be held in the auditorium of Georgetown University in Qatar on 15th -16th March 2014. Keynote speakers include: Tawakul Karman, Nobel Prize Laureate; Reem Maghribi, Former Arab World Program Leader at Greenpeace; Malik Badri, UNESCO expert in psychology; and Wadah Khanfar, Former Director-General of the Al Jazeera Network, together with internationally renowned speakers. Dr Tariq Ramadan, Executive Director of CILE, will deliver the closing speech. On the role played by Qatar Foundation (QF) in terms of scientific research and development in Qatar and the region, Dr. Al Kubaisi said that Qatar Foundation (QF) with vision of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of QF is leading efforts to achieve leadership in human, social and economic development in the State of Qatar through education and research, a matter which makes it at the top and forefront of constructive change in the region and become exemplary in the fold of the international community. In response to another question about the remarks by Dr. Saad Eddin Ibrahim, director of the Ibn Khaldun Center for Development Studies, on his visit to Doha and his meeting with Her Highness and that the meeting came at the request of the Office of Her Highness, Dr Kubaisi denied the remarks by Dr. Saad Eddin Ibrahim in which he talked about the details of a meeting with HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser in Doha. Dr. Al-Kubaisi said he was astonished by Dr. Saad Eddin Ibrahim's remarks on the meeting, especially since the topics that he talked about to the media have never been addressed and that the meeting was arranged at the request of Dr. Saad Eddin Ibrahim and without prior invitation of Her Highness, Dr. Al Kubaisi stressed.
