CIS security chiefs to discuss ways to expose terrorists returning home from Syria, Afghanistan

MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Chiefs of security services from the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will meet in Moscow on Wednesday to discuss joint measures to expose those who are returning home after fighting for terrorist organizations in Syria and Afghanistan, a spokesman for Russia’s Federal Security Service told TASS. "Moscow will host a regular, the 39th, meeting of the CIS council of chiefs of security services. Basic attention will be focused on issues of cooperation between security services of the CIS member states in exposing of those who are returning to their home countries after terrorist training in Syria and Afghanistan and preventing their illegal activities," the spokesman said. The spokesman said the CIS security chiefs were expected to work out measures "to organize cooperation in the sphere of information exchange on threats of terrorist attacks, illegal intrusion, including of terrorist character, into the operation of transport infrastructure facilities." They will also share experience in countering ideology of terror in the worldwide web. Apart from that, the meeting will consider a draft programme of cooperation among CIS countries in countering terrorism and other manifestations of extremism for 2017-2019, the spokesman said, adding that the chief of the CIS Anti-terrorist Centre was expected to report about the result of the latest meeting of chief of national anti-terrorist centres and the Centre’s plans for the coming year.
