Citizens' right to quality health services stressed

Manama, July 27 (BNA): The Chief Prosecutor for Ministries and Public Bodies Advocate General Mamdooh Al Mouawda said the Prosecution has received several complaints and reports from the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) regarding medical errors, medical practice without due license, and the sale of medicines at more than the officially-announced prices. The Prosecution launched its investigations into the reports and referred 13 cases to the competent courts since the beginning of 2013. Conviction sentences have been issued in three cases so far while the remaining cases are being considered by the court or investigated by the Prosecution. Al Mouawda said the Prosecution deems among its top priorities all criminal cases that constitute a violation of the provisions of the law that regulate the health services provided to citizens, or breach the law on health workers and the right of citizens to receive quality health services. Such violations constitute crimes punishable by law, he added.
