CITY'S EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT RUNS SEMINAR

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A seminar themed "Geographic Information System for Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development" has run in the UB city's Emergency Management Department. The action was held Wednesday in frames of a cooperation between this Department and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). It has aimed at strengthening greater use of the geographic information systems, evaluating the process of geo portal use in disaster risk management and determining further training directions and demand. The seminar gathered some 30 officials from the National Emergency Management Agency, Rescue team, Disaster Research Institute, General Police Department, Environment and Information center. Several specialists took the floor to highlight matters such as geographic information system in disaster risk reduction and others.
