Clear evidence needed for deportation of Indian businessman: Interior Minister

BANGKOK, Feb 9 (TNA) - Caretaker Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan has ordered solid evidence to be collected for tomorrow’s meeting, set to consider deportation of an Indian businessman for violation of the emergency decree. The minister instructed the ministry’s Permanent Secretary Wiboon Sanguanpong to collect pictures and speeches made earlier by the Indian businessman Satish Sehgal on an anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) platform. A committee is scheduled to consider Monday whether to deport Mr. Sehgal, who have been living in Thailand for more than five decades. Mr. Sehgal has defended himself, saying that he has already ended his political movement after the emergency decree was imposed. The ministry is also checking whether complaints were made by people against Satish Sehgal. (TNA)
