Co-op between Azerbaijani, Iranian journalists discussed

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 17 By Temkin Jafarov – Trend: The Head of the Department of Public and Political Issues of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov received a delegation of Iranian journalists who are on a visit to Baku, Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan told Trend Oct. 17. A delegation consisting of six people, representing different media structures of Iran have been in Baku since October 14. During the meeting, Hasanov pointed out the need to create a platform for cooperation among the journalists of Islamic countries. “The Azerbaijani journalists cooperate as part of such formats with their colleagues from Russia, Turkey and Central Asian countries,” Hasanov said. He added that the Azerbaijani media can, in a specific format, cooperate with Iranian media, and this would have positively impacted the development of bilateral relations. During the meeting, which was attended by the Iranian Ambassador Mohsen Pak Ayeen, Hasanov said that initially creating a cooperation center, it is possible to even further strengthen ties between the Azerbaijani and Iranian media, and then this process can involve the media of other Muslim countries. He said the issue will be discussed with the Iranian ambassador as well. Hasanov noted that the media play an important role in shaping the culture and thoughts of people. He said the Azerbaijani side encourages cooperation platform that will coordinate the media of the Islamic states, in particular the establishment of such a structure by the Azerbaijani and Iranian media expresses hope that the relevant structures in Iran will also carefully approach this issue. Hasanov criticized the attempts of some Azerbaijani and Iranian media outlets, aimed at spreading negative information about both countries, and said that if the media pay more attention to positive factors, undoubtedly this will affect the development of bilateral ties.
