Commander-in-Chief of Russian Land Forces visits Thailand

BANGKOK, March 15 (TNA) - Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Land Forces General Oleg Salyukov is visiting Thailand this week, as Moscow and Bangkok celebrate their 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2017. The visiting Russian Land Forces chief on Wednesday morning met Thai Supreme Commander General Surapong Suwana-adth at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters on the outskirts of Bangkok, during which both sides reiterated close military relations between the two countries. The Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Land Forces said it is the special occasion that both countries celebrate the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. According to the visiting Russian Land Forces chief, Russia and Thailand have advanced bilateral cooperation in various fields, namely exchanges of visits of national representatives, as well as on training, education and the defense industry. The Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Land Forces expressed his hope that there would be more bilateral cooperation in all dimensions beneficial to both countries in the future. The Thai supreme commander, in turn, thanked the visiting Russian Land Forces chief for his visit to Thailand, stressing that bilateral military cooperation between Moscow and Bangkok will continue to play a pivotal role for strengthening relations between the two allied countries. Meanwhile, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Land Forces is scheduled to meet Thai Army Chief General Chalermchai Sittisart at the Royal Thai Army Headquarters in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
