Commander: Navy, Iran’s strong arm in free waters

Bushehr, May 21, IRNA – Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said the navy is the strong arm of the Islamic Republic of Iran in free waters. Talking to reporters here in southern country, he stressed that based on the teachings of Islam and guidelines of the Supreme Leader, Iran is not a country to invade and attack other countries. Saying that free waters belong to all nations, he noted that the Iranian navy has navigated the Mediterranean, the Gulf of Bengal and Chinese Sea as well as the Indian and Pacific oceans. He reiterated that the navy operations offer protection to over 1,600 oil tankers and 22 ships belonging to other countries while carrying out missions to confront pirates.
