Community partnership, good education bulwark against drug abuse

Manama, June 25 (BNA): Southern Governor Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the National Anti-narcotics Committee member and Head of Together to Combat Violence and Addiction Programme (Ma’an) committee, stressed the importance of community partnership in fighting drugs and narcotics. He pointed out the need for concerted efforts to fight drugs. Marking the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is observed on June 26, he urged to coordinate efforts to tackle the spreading phenomenon of drug abuse worldwide. He praised the directives of the Interior Minister to tackle this problem, hailing the ministry’s programmes in this respect. The Southern Governor called on parents to raise awareness of mainly youngsters of the danger of drugs, stressing that education is the front defence line in preventing drug abuse and immunising the community from terrorism.
