Confab on Iran’s cultural presence in Transcaucasia planned

Tehran, Dec 20, IRNA – Iran’s cultural attaché in Armenia said that the international conference on “ The opportunities and challenges of Iran’s cultural presence in Transcaucasia” is planned for next year. The confab will be held with the participation of several national and international institutes, namely, the Institute of Oriental Studies, Armenian National Academy of Sciences, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization quoted Majid Meshki as saying. Visiting the Armenian institute, Meshki met with its director, Ruben Safrastyan and discussed several topics including the opening of an Islamology division in the center and holding a joint scientific conference on cultural and international issues. The two officials also discussed issues related to the above-stated scientific conference which will be held with the cooperation of several centers including Institute of Iran Eurasian Research Institute (Iras), International Relations faculty of Qom free University as well as the region’s cultural attaches. They also underlined that the international event will be attended by professors and scholars from different countries, like Georgia, Russia, Iran and many others. The conference is planned for September 2015. Transcaucasia or the South Caucasus is a geopolitical region located on the border of Eastern Europe and Southwest Asia. All of Armenia is in Transcaucasia; the majority of Georgia and Azerbaijan, including the exclave of Nakhchivan, fall within the region./end
