Confucius, Saadi to meet in Tehran, Beijing

TEHRAN, Nov. 24 (MNA) – The conference of Confucius and Saadi will be held next year in Tehran’s Book City Institute and Beijing Foreign Studies University. The cultural deputy of the Book City Institute Ali Asghar Mohammad Khani said “Following the conferences of Saadi-Pushkin, Saadi-Yunus Emre, Saadi- Cervantes as well as Saadi- Mutanabbi held in the past four years in Tehran, Moscow, Ankara and Madrid, Confucius and Saadi conference is planned for spring 2016 in Tehran’s Book City Institute and Beijing Foreign Studies University.” Cooperating with Saadi Studies Center, the Book City has planned a 10 years program, since 2012, through which Persian classic literature and Saadi’s works are introduced to the world. Moreover the scholars and poets of other countries are presented and their works and thoughts are compared with Saadi’s”, he added. Talking about Saadi and Confucius he added that Saadi is a symbol of Persian language while Confucius is a symbol of Chinese. The Iranian poet is known for his Gulistan and some chapters of the book are on ethics and politics. Saadi’s works particularly the Gulistan have been rendered into Chinese several times.
