Connection Roads Of 350 Iranian Villages Re-opened After Heavy Snow

Sanandaj, Feb 6, IRNA – Manager of Road Keeping and Rural Development Organization of Iran’s Kordestan province said Wednesday night that connection roads of 350 villages of Kurdistan were reopened after yesterday’s heavy snow by that organization’s staffs. Mohammad-Rashed Modarress-Gorji added in a brief talk with IRNA that the connection roads of 150 other villages of the province need to be reopened now, that the hard working staff of the Road Keeping Organization are trying their best in dark hours of the night to reopen them. He said that the snow storm began on Monday in Kurdistan and continued till Wednesday, leading to the closure of the connections roads of 500 villages of the province. He said that the private sector firms have been commissioned the task of reopening of the snow-blocked roads in Kordestan province and they have taken advantage of 50 groups, 250 personnel, and 130 road keeping machines of the Road Keeping and Rural Development Organization for the purpose. Modarress-Gorji said that the major and side roads of Kurdistan province are all clear now. Iran’s Kurdistan province has 750 villages with a 580 thousand strong population residing in them. It is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. The province is located in the west of Iran and bound by Iraq on the west, and the four Iranian provinces of West Azerbaijan to its north, Zanjan to the northeast, Hamadan to the east and Kermanshah to the south. The capital city of Iran Kordestan Province is the city of Sanandaj. Other counties with their major cities are Marivan, Baneh, Saqqez, Qorveh, Bijar, Kamyaran, Dehgolan, Diwandarreh and Sarvabad./end
