Consultation on rural governance held

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A consultation themed "Ways of forming skillful and responsible Citizens’ Representative Khural based on citizens" ran Wednesday at the State House. This consultation has been co-organized by the parliamentary Standing committee on state structure, a Sub-committee on rural governance and Mongolian Association of Rural Governance (MARG) under auspices of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. A chairman of the MARG Su.Batbold MP made the opening remarks, emphasizing the event's aims such as experiences exchange among rural self-governance bodies, a refining of the legal environment for solving problems in local governance actions. A head of the Standing committee on state structure A.Bakei said that several measures have been launched by parliament and government both to strengthen capability of rural self-governance organizations. A "Fortifying capability of rural self-governance bodies" project has been started by the Standing committee and the Parliamentary Office, he added. Following him, an MP and deputy head of the Sub-committee on rural governance D.Battsogt took the floor to talk about refining of the legal environment for local self-governance organizations. After him, some officials from the Parliamentary Office gave reports as well.
