Conveniences and safety ordered for Midnight Songkran fair in Hat Yai

SONGKHLA, April 12 (TNA) - Deputy national police chief Chalermkiat Sriworakhan visited Hat Yai district in the southern border province of Songkhla to order subordinates to ensure conveniences and safety for people at the Midnight Songkran fair on Saneha Nusorn Road in Hat Yai. Pol Gen Chalermkiat told local police to emphasize campaigns for Songkran revelers to be polite in water splashes and refrain from drunk driving. The Midnight Songkran fair began Thursday morning. Thai, Malaysian and Singaporean people were splashing water on Saneha Nusorn Road in the town center. The fair was set for official opening Thursday evening when many more visitors were expected. Soldiers, police, administrative officials and defence volunteers were deployed to secure the fair set on Thursday and Friday. (TNA)
