Coordinates of terrorists’ positions checked 10 times before shared with Russia - Syrian ambassador

MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. Syrian intelligence services "check the information about positions of terrorist organization more than 10 times" before sharing it with Russia for delivering airstrikes, Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Riyad Haddad said on Wednesday. Commenting Western media reports that Russian airstrikes target civilians, Haddad said: "Coordination is carried out through the information center in Baghdad. However, coordination is also underway with participation of all general of the Syrian army." "This is done so that precise airstrikes are delivered at the positions of the Islamic State terrorist organization," he added. "It is important to note that before Russian fighter jets take off, reconnaissance operations are carried out, and the information is checked more than 10 times on every facility," he stressed. "Moreover, the weapons that Russia uses is high-precision, so the possibility of mistakes is almost zero," the ambassador stressed. Russia launches airstrikes in Syria Last week, Russian Federation Council unanimously granted permission to the Russian president to use the nation’s military force in Syria. "The Federation Council unanimously supported the president’s request - 162 votes in favor [of granting permission]," Kremlin chief of staff Sergey Ivanov said. Russia will use only its Air Force in Syria against Islamic State (IS) and other terrorist groups upon the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad, Ivanov said, stressing that no ground troops will be sent. Russian Aerospace Defense Forces started delivering targeted strikes against IS facilities on Wednesday, September 30. Modernized Su-24M and Su-25 fighter jets are deployed in the aviation unit of Russia’s Aerospace Defense Forces formed in Syria, Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told journalists on Thursday. He stressed that all strikes were made after air reconnaissance and update of data obtained from the Syrian army headquarters.
