COVID-19: Singapore Reports 310 New Cases, Seven In Community

By MASSITA AHMAD SINGAPORE, July 22 (Bernama) -- Singapore has reported 310 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the past 24 hours with seven cases in the community. According to brief noon data released by the Ministry of Health (MOH), of the seven cases in the community, three involved Singaporeans or permanent residents while four more were work pass holders. In addition, the ministry said there were six imported cases who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore. The vast majority of today's cases were still foreign workers staying at dormitories. With the new figures released, the total infection tally for the republic now stands at 48,744 cases. In its full data released late Tuesday, Singapore classified 648 of its cases as imported, 2,139 as community cases and 45,647 as dorm residents. So far, 44,584 or about 92 per cent of the total cases have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities. As of noon Tuesday, there were 170 confirmed cases still in hospital. Most were stable or improving, with no cases in the intensive care unit. A total of 3,653 patients who had symptoms or were clinically well but still tested positive for COVID-19 have been isolated and are being cared for at community facilities. To date, 27 people have died from complications due to COVID-19 here. No new clusters were identified Tuesday. -- BERNAMA
