Curfew lifted in 20 more Thai areas

BANGKOK, June 11 (TNA) - Thailand’s army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has lifted curfew in 20 additional areas, as the overall domestic situation has been returning to normal. The NCPO announced the revocation of curfew in the 20 more areas on Tuesday night with immediate effect. The areas include the whole provinces of Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Rayong, Chantaburi, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Roi Et, Loei, Surin, Tak, Sukhothai, Mae Hong Son, Uttaradit, Phrae, Nan, Trang and Satun. The curfew was also lifted in Khao Yoi, Nong Ya Plong, Tha Yang, Ban Lat, Ban Laem and Kaeng Krachan Districts of Petchaburi Province, Klong Yai, Khao Saming, Bo Rai, Laem Ngob and Koh Kut of Trat Province and Sadao and Muang Districts of Songkhla Province. But curfew in Bangkok and the remaining areas in the country has been maintained. The NCPO imposed curfew nationwide after it stage a coup on May 22, from 10pm-5am, but the coup council later shortened the curfew period to from midnight-4am. Besides, the coup council has, so far, lifted curfew in major tourist destinations, including Pattaya, Phuket, Samui Island in Surat Thani Province, Chang Island in Trat Province, Pha-ngan Island in Surat Thani Province, Hat Yai in Songkhla Province, Cha-am in Pethchaburi Province and Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan, as well as Krabi and Phang-nga Provinces.
