Cypriot leaders meet over a dinner

PYLA (A.A) - President Dervis Eroglu of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias met over a dinner in Pyla village under the control of the United Nations on Thursday. The leaders, who were accompanied by UN Secretary General's special advisor on Cyprus Alexander Downer, special advisors of Eroglu and Christofias and officials from UN, began their dinner at a Greek Cypriot restaurant. They will continue the dinner in a Turkish Cypriot restaurant later in the evening. Prior to the dinner, Eroglu said that they would exert efforts to solve Cyprus issue during the summit in New York between January 22 and 24. Eroglu expressed hope that they would reach a consensus in the first quarter of 2012. Pyla is the only village in Cyprus where both Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots are living together. The village is under the control of the UN. Its population is 1,800, and 500 Turkish Cypriots are living in the village.
