D-8 to confront threats, injustices: Sec-Gen

Islamabad, March 8, IRNA – The secretary of the organization representing eight Islamic countries known as D-8, Ali Mohammad Mousavi, said it is undertaking every endeavor to confront injustices and removing obstacles preventing prosperity and stability in the world. Addressing the sixth meeting of the think-tanks of Muslim countries here on Sunday, he said injustice and extremism would lead to the growth of poverty in the world. He stressed that eliminating deprivation and inequality called for expanding free markets and further deepening of economic relations. He also said empowering nations at the present juncture calls for adopting proper political and economic decisions. The official further stressed the need for expanding cooperation among world nations and noted that the organization spent the first decade of its life on developing policies and enhancing coordination. He said the D-8 organization has been consistently working to exchange the economies of its member states into dynamic ones.
