Damaged trains will be sent to Bangkok for repair

AYUTTHAYA, March 28 (TNA) - A locomotive and train carriages, damaged in an accident earlier this week in Ayutthaya will be sent to Bangkok for repair on Saturday. Engineer of the State Railway of Thailand, Naris Khamrattana said the damaged locomotive and the three carriages will be moved to Bangkok’s Bang Sue junction so that repair can be made. Train services to the North and Northeast now operate normally. More than 50 persons were injured in the accident which occurred Thursday night after an express train travelling from Bangkok to the northeastern province of Nong Khai parked at a railway station in Ayutthaya. Another northbound passenger train running from Bangkok to Denchai smashed the express train from behind. Investigations are underway why the driver of the northbound train failed to stop his train. SRT estimates that the damage from the accident is over 80 million baht. (TNA)
