Death toll from fire at refugee camp in Thai North rises to 37

MAE HONG SON, March 25 (TNA) - The death toll from a fire which raged the Mae Surin Refugee Camp in Khun Yuam District of Mae Hong Son Province in the Thai North has risen to 37; while more than 110 were wounded, 12 were seriously injured and 98 were slightly injured. Provincial authorities have, thus, set up a center to gather donations for victims, with cash donations over the past two days amounted to 522,826 baht. The 3rd Development Division has also deployed a mobile kitchen unit and a mobile drinking water production unit at the refugee camp and the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation has delivered over 500 sets of royally sponsored necessities to the fire victims. The disaster prevention and mitigation office in nearby Chiang Mai Province and the provincial branch of the Thai Red Cross Society have also gathered donations at the Provincial Hall to help the fire victims, with cash donations alone, including those of the Chiang Mai governor, having exceeded 100,000 baht.(TNA)
