Death toll reaches 285 during Songkran

BANGKOK, April 16 (TNA) - Over 283 people died and about 3,000 people were injured in the road accidents during the last five days of the Thai New Year celebrations. Highway Police Division chief Somchai Kaosamran revealed nearly 3,000 road accidents were reported since April 11. Chiang Mai tops the provinces with the highest accident rate of 140 while Nakhon Ratchasima has the highest death toll of 17 people. Chiang Mai also has the highest number of injuries of 145 people. Only Chaiyaphoom has reported no injuries. (TNA)
