Denial of inundation at 304 Industrial Park

PRACHIN BURI, THAILAND, September 30 (TNA) - The 304 Industrial Park, located in Thailand's eastern Prachin Buri Province bordering Cambodia, has denied reports that it was hit by severe flooding. Stressing that every plant located within the industrial site has operated normally, Poonsak Sutuntavibul, Deputy Managing Director of 304 Industrial Park Co. Ltd., confirmed on Monday that earlier press reports claiming plants at the estate were inundated were “not true”. Poonsak explained that rainwater in front of Alpha plant, shown by pictures in several newspapers, was caused by heavy downpours on the night of last Friday, but the area became dried in the evening of the following day, thanks to the fine water draining system at the industrial estate. Poonsak insisted that every plant at the 304 Industrial Park in Prachin Buri's Si Maha Phot District has never been flooded because the eastern industrial site is situated on the average of 20 metres above the sea level. According to the deputy managing director, the 304 Industrial Park has, however, kept 11 heavy trucks and 20 mobile water pumps with combined capacity to pump out water at 6,000 cubic metres per hour on standby and workers of the industrial park have also been on alert round-the-clock to make sure that plants would not be inundated. Meanwhile, Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra promised her government's full assistance to flood victims, after visiting heavily-flooded areas in Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani Provinces in the Thai Northeast.
