Deputy Minister Of Defense Visits Myanmar

Jakarta, Sept 11 (Antara) - Indonesia`s Deputy Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin is paying a visit to Myanmar, September 11-13, 2014. "My mission is to promote Indonesia`s defense industry," Sjamsoeddin said in a press statement here, Thursday. In Myanmar, he is scheduled to meet Commander of Myanmar`s Defense Forces Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Home Affairs Minister Lt. Gen. Ko Ko. They will discuss among other things about preparations for Indonesia`s defense strategic industry exhibition to be organized in Myanmar. During the visit, Syamsoeddin is accompanied by some CEOs of private and state-owned enterprises engaged in defense industry, such as President Director of aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia Budi Santoso, President Director of weapons and land system manufacturer PT Pindad Sudirman Said, Technology Director of ship building company PT PAL Saiful Anwar, and Executive Director of Bank Exim Dwi Wahyudi. Indonesia`s defense industry has been developing well. PT Pindad, for instance, has produced more than 300 units of Anoa and Komodo armoured personnel carrier. The company`s production capacity is 80 units annually. PT Dirgantara Indonesia has produced CN235 which is a multipurpose, versatile and reliable aircraft, capable of carrying out the most demanding missions. Up to this time, over than 260 units of CN235 have been produced and used in 32 countries.
