Deputy PM Receives Courtesy Calls From Five Malaysian Ambassadors-Designate

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), July 14 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday received courtesy calls from five Malaysian ambassadors-designate at his office at Bangunan Perdana Putra (the Prime Minister's Department Complex) here. They were Datuk Syed Sultan Mohd Idris who would serve in Ireland, Mohd Ashri Muda (Argentina), T.Bala Chandran (Lebanon), Nor'aini Abd Hamid (Uzbekistan) and Umardin Abdul Mutalib (Oman). In the meeting that lasted about 30 minutes, Muhyiddin delivered his message and held discussions with the ambassadors-designate. Before the new appointment, Syed Sultan, 57, had served as Secretary of the American Division of the Foreign Ministry, Mohd Ashri, 53, was the Malaysian Ambassador to Sudan and Bala Chandran, 48, was Minister/Deputy Head of Mission at the Malaysian Embassy in China. Meanwhile Nor'aini, 53, was the Secretary of the Inspectorate Division of the Foreign Ministry while Umardin, 58, was the Malaysian Deputy High Commissioner in Ottawa, Canada prior to the appointment. Malaysia's king Tuanku Abdul Halim Mua'dzam Shah had consented to present the instruments of appointment to them at Istana Negara (National Palace) last month. --BERNAMA
