DFWAC participates in DIHAD 2015

DUBAI, 25th March, 2015 (WAM) -- Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, DFWAC, is participating in the Dubai International Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition, DIHAD 2015, which is being held under the patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, from 24th to 26th March, with the participation of 396 local and international bodies concerned with the affairs of aid and charity work. Afra Al Basti, Director-General of the Dubai Foundation For Women and Children, said that this event is one of the most important international exhibitions in the field of humanitarian aid and it promotes the status of the UAE in general, and Dubai in particular, as an international centre in this area, as there are many new participants in this event every year, and this is the first participation for DFWAC too. She added that DFWAC was keen to participate in this exhibition to benefit from the expertise of the other participants, and to promote cooperation with them and build new partnerships as a part of the Foundation’s strategy, in addition to reviewing the latest studies in this field. "DFWAC participation aims to introduce our services to the exhibition’s visitors, and to encourage individuals to communicate with us in the matters of abuse, especially as the foundation is the only entity that provides care and rehabilitation services in three different categories, domestic violence, child abuse and human trafficking," Al Basti said. She pointed out that the most important services that DFWAC is introducing at this event are the care and rehabilitation services and the foundation’s help line, 800111, which has received thousands of calls over the past year. DFWAC is working on raising awareness among more people in society about the importance of getting help from concerned bodies regarding all type of abuse. Al Basti added that although the foundation is newly established, it has succeeded in just a few years in raising awareness in society about abuse against women and children, and it has also offered care and rehabilitation services to hundreds of cases of different nationalities, and DFWAC's participation in the exhibition is a part of continuing these efforts. She explained that DFWAC’s stand at the exhibition offers guidance brochures with regards to child abuse, domestic violence and human trafficking, and had attracted many visitors on the first day of the event. – Emirates News Agency, WAM – http://www.wam.ae/en/news/general/1395278381303.html
