D.GANKHUYAG MP TO CHAIR MONGOLIA-JAPAN INTER-PARLIAMENTARY GROUP

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A member of the State Great Khural (parliament) D.Gankhuyag has been appointed the chairman of the Mongolia-Japan inter-parliamentary group. He replaces D.Erdenebat, a chairman of the Democratic Party’s (DP) faction at parliament, who recently has been elected the Minister of Industry. One of the incumbent parliamentarians who graduated from a university in Japan, D.Gankhuyag worked as a head of the Mongolia-Japan inter-parliamentary group in 2004-2011. The Mongolia-Japan inter-parliamentary group is considered as the most active group at parliament. For example, it had put forward a proposal to the Japanese side to build an international airport in Khoshig Valley in Tov aimag, a construction of which has been successful. Last year, the Mongolia-Japan relations became the strategic partnership. A proposal on establishing the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), initiated by the Mongolian side in 2006, is now has come into a level of realization. If the two countries establish the EPA, a legal environment will be formed to support the relations in economy, investment and business between the countries, and opportunities will be given to Mongolia to actively participate in Asian, Northeast Asian and other regional economic integration.
