Die Welt publishes German journalist`s impressions about Azerbaijan

Berlin, July 2, AZERTAC German journalist Marco Martin has shared his impressions about his visit to Azerbaijan. In his article published in Die Welt newspaper, the journalist highlights Azerbaijan's favorable geographical position, its history, culture, tourism, and religious tolerance. Martin says that "located in a volatile region, Azerbaijan is a stable, prosperous country, which has integrated into the West". The journalist hails religious tolerance in Azerbaijan as an integral part of people`s life, saying there are many mosques, churches and synagogues in the country. Underlining his visits to Baku`s must see places, Martin highlights the combination of ancient and modern buildings in the city's architectural style He also writes about the everyday life of the Azerbaijani people, as well as the German heritage in the country. Martin says he visited Lahij, Kish villages and the city of Shaki, adding he was admired by Lahij`s thousand-year history of craft traditions, and the story of the Palace of Shaki Khans. He notes that many visitors come to see Gobustan rock paintings and mud volcanoes which were included in the list of UNESCO world cultural heritage.
