Digital land ownership maps to be completed next year

BANGKOK, Oct 17 (TNA) -- Department of Land expects to complete its production of digital land ownership maps next year and land owners and governmental organisations can then make use of the database. Apinun Suetanuwong, director-general of the Land Department, said that the compilation of digital land ownership maps had been completed for about 2 million land plots in 54 provinces in the North, the Northeast, Bangkok and nearby provinces. The work in the South, the East and the rest parts of the Central Plain would be finished within next year. The Department is shifting from hard copies to digital land ownership maps to ensure standard, precision and accuracy in the location of land plots. The new system provided governmental organisations with standard data on land plots and facilitated examination on land ownerships and taxation by local administration organisation, Mr Apinun said. "I believe that it will be beneficial to people as they can seek services online. The services will be transparent. People can check data on land plots through http://dolwms.dol.go.th/tvwebp/. The system is secure because users must input the numbers of land title deeds before accessing it," Mr Apinun said. (TNA)
