Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first nine months of this year, 3,477 disasters and accidents occurred. Because of them, 186 people died, 235.3 thousand heads of livestock and animals were lost. Construction fires occurred 2,919 times, forest fires--135 times, floods and river and lake accidents--115 times, rabies disease--68 times, heavy rain and floods--52 times, severe storms--36 times, 3.5 magnitude earthquake--35 times, thunder--27 times, incidents related to chemical substance usage--24 times, industrial accident--10 times. Estimated damage caused by these disasters and accidents amounted to MNT 8.2 billion, forest fires--to MNT 4.6 billion, heavy rain and floods--MNT 3.1 billion, severe storms--MNT 621.7 million, foot-and-mouth disease--MNT 595.5 million, thunder--MNT 125.8 million. 114 people died in floods and river and lake accidents, 47 people--in construction fires, eight--in thunders, six--in mining and rock falls artisanal mining and rock falls, five people--in industrial accidents, three--due to heavy rain and floods, two people--in forest fires, and one--in flood. The number of disaster and accidents increased by 472 against the same period of 2012. A loss and deaths of livestock and animals increased 223.1 thousand heads in the first nine months of 2013 against 2012.
