Doctor asks women not to be panic over ovarian cancer

Bangkok, Feb 28 (TNA) - An expert on cancer at Chulabhorn Hospital said women are urged not to be too worried over an ovarian cancer disease and only a medical checkup annually would be suffice. Dr. Nattawut Kantathavorn, said a regular medical checkup by women on ovarian cancer would be unnecessary due to high expenses. Dr. Nattawut’s remarks were made following reports that a movie actress suffered from ovarian cancer and several private-run hospitals plan to launch campaigns or health promotions aimed at luring women to undertake ovarian cancer medical checkup. Generally speaking, a checkup for cervical cancer is sufficient. Dr. Nattawut said ovarian cancer is now ranked third deadly disease among women after breast and cervical cancer. The death rate of those suffering from ovarian cancer is still as high as 50 per cent. He suggested that the best way is to undertake a checkup on cancer once a year because the patient could be cured 90 per cent if the disease is found in the early stage. (TNA)
