Documentarian to make biopic on German-based Iranian Prof. Samii

TEHRAN,Oct.29(MNA) -- Iran is making a two-part documentary series on German-based Iranian neurosurgeon and medical scientist Professor Majid Samii. Fereydun Qadimi will direct the two-part 25-minute documentary produced by the local Gilan TV Station. The shooting will begin in early November in Hanover. Born in Rasht, Gilan in 1937, Samii got his doctoral degree in neurosurgery at the age of 33. He chairs the International Neuroscience Institute in Germany and is the director of the Municipal Clinic for Neurosurgery in Hanover. The first part of the documentary is dedicated to the childhood and primary education of Samii in his hometown Rasht and the next part is about his academic achievements as a brilliant neurosurgeon in European countries. The film will be shot in Iran, Germany, Italy, France and China, Qadimi mentioned in a press release . The documentary series also include interviews with world renowned neurosurgeons who were Samii’s disciples. In February 2009, the Professor Majid Samii Museum opened in Tehran. The museum displays documents introducing the scientific achievements of Professor Samii as well as the international medals he has received for his scientific achievements.
