DPM: Flooding in Thai South improving

BANGKOK, January 4 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit said on Wednesday that the flooding situation in the Thai South has been improving, dismissing the opposition’s comments over the government’s slow response to the current inundations in the South. Yongyuth told reporters that the government has coordinated with disaster prevention and mitigation centres in each affected province and other parties concerned in mobilizing aid to assist the southern flood victims and has been prepared for providing more help to them. According to the deputy premier, measures to solve the flooding problem in the Thai South were also included in the agenda of the Cabinet's weekly meeting on Wednesday. The deputy prime minister, however, acknowledged that the situation in flood-hardest hit Nakhon Si Thammarat Province has remained worrying and he will travel to the province tomorrow to inspect the situation and to visit local flood victims.
