DPM: Thai economy will bounce back after fresh poll

ASTANA, May 5 (TNA) - Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt NaRanong says he is confidence that Thailand’s economy will grow strongly after the country completes its fresh general election in July. Kittiratt made the remark at the 17th ASEAN Plus Three Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (AFMGM+3) in Astana, Kazakhstan over the weekend. Kittiratt told the meeting that Thailand’s economy bounced back strongly in 2012 after 2011’s flood crisis to post a growth at 6.5 percent. Acknowledging that political turmoil has affected the country’s economy last year and in the first quarter of this year, he said if the next general election goes smoothly, the new government can then implement short and medium-term economic measures to stimulate the economy again. The AFMGM+3 discussed progress in of regional economic cooperation as well as regional economic prospects and challenges. (TNA)
