DPM:Thailand highly values human rights

BANGKOK, March 4 (TNA) - Thailand highly values human rights to guarantee equal rights for all. Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister General Tanasak Patimapragorn, who is attending the 28th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, told TNA on Wednesday that he has told the UN Human Rights Council of the Thai stance and he is satisfied with the 28th session of the UN Human Rights Council, as Thailand receives support from concerned organizations. General Tanasak said he informed the UN session that children, women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), the elderly and migrant workers in Thailand must enjoy equal rights, pointing out that as many as 1.6 million migrant workers have already been legally registered to have their rights protected in compliance with humanitarianism. According to the deputy prime minister, the Thai stance has drawn international admiration. According to the Thai deputy prime minister, he also discussed cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and met Margareta Wahlstrom, special representative of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for disaster risk reduction and Michael Moller, Acting Head of the UN Office in Geneva.
