Dr. Shapiro Praises Qatar's Diplomacy in Achieving International Security

Doha, June 04 (QNA) - Dr. Daniel Shapiro, Founder and Director of the Harvard International Negotiation Program (INP) expressed great admiration at the Qatari wise leadership and lauded Qatar's diplomacy for achieving and boosting international security. This came in a lecture he delivered at the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here Wednesday entitled," issue of identity in times of transition". He pointed out that his arrival in Doha coincided with the announcement of the international media outlets of successful Qatar's mediation on the prisoners' exchange deal between the US and Taliban movement noting meantime that this matter is an example of the essential roles played by Qatar which will continue to play for maintaining and strengthening international security. Dr. Shapiro emphasized the importance of identity in the negotiation in emotionally charged conflict situations, noting that the negotiation is also often focusing on the logical arguments and haggling over positions.
