Drivers advised to have enough sleep during Songkran Festival

BANGKOK, March 11 (TNA) - Drivers of all types of vehicles should have enough sleep before their travels during next month's Songkran or Traditional Thai New Year Festival. Kamol Buranapong, Acting Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, under the Thai Ministry of Transport, voiced the advice in Bangkok on Monday as this year's Songkran long holidays are approaching. The senior official suggested that drivers have a good sleep of at least 7-8 hours before starting their trips during the upcoming Songkran, or Water Splashing, Festival. "Drivers who feel tired on the way to their destinations during next month's Songkran long holidays should stop driving at safe places along the road, like large and well-organized petrol stations, for at least 2-3 hours before driving ahead", the senior official advised. Based on the Thai government's recent announcement, this year's Songkran or Traditional Thai New Year holidays have been officially set from April 12 to April 17. (TNA)
