Drought has not yet affected amount, quality of water supply

BANGKOK, Jan 22 (TNA) -- The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) said that the ongoing drought in the country has not affected the generation of water supply, although at night the flow could slow down a little bit. MWA Governor Thanasak Watanathana said despite the fact that all dams possess lower level of water than the previous years, the water management system implemented by the Royal Irrigation Department (RID) and cooperation from all agencies, have helped to maintain the quality and production of water supply at the normal level. The measures included the MWA's move to lower the amount of water being pumped from the Chao Phraya River to an average of around 4 million cubic metres per day, and reduce the water pressure at night time since December of 2015. The governor added that interested public who wishes to follow up on the water supply situation could do so through the MWA website at www.mwa.co.th, or via Facebook at www.facebook.com/MWA.CO.TH. Moreover, the public could follow up on the situation at anytime, anywhere, via the department's smartphone application, MWA onMobile, which would present up-to-date information on the water situation. He said although the generation of water supply by the MWA remains to be normal, he has advised the people to use water wisely for everyone to get through this crisis. (TNA)
