Drug trafficker captured in Thai North

CHIANG RAI, THAILAND, June 2 (TNA) - Thai police have arrested a drug trafficker in the country's northern Chiang Rai Province and seized about one million methamphetamine or meth pills. The combined police force of Chiang Rai's Mae Chan Police Station the Mae Chan Border Patrol Police 327 jointly stopped a 41-year-old Thai man on early Thursday morning, while he was driving a pick-up truck from a border area to inner areas in the province, and seized five sacks of about one million meth pills hidden in the rear of the pick-up. The authorities were provided tip-offs that drugs would be trafficked from Mae Sai border area in Chiang Rai destined for Bangkok. The man confessed that he received the meth pills from the border area and was transporting them to Bangkok, using a sub-route to avoid checkpoints. (TNA)
