Dubai filmfest to screen “The Past”

TEHRAN,Oct.2(MNA) – Acclaimed Iranian movie “The Past” by Asghar Farhadi will go on screen at the 10th Dubai International Film Festival, which will be held in the United Arabs Emirates from December 6 to 14. The French-language film “The Past”, which is Farhadi’s first project done outside of his homeland, is about an Iranian man named Ahmad who returns to Paris from Tehran after a four-year separation, upon his French wife Marie’s request, in order to finalize their divorce. The film brought its French star Berenice Bejo the Palme d’Or for best actress at the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival. The film will be competing with entries from around the world. “Labor Day” by Jason Reitman from Canada, “The Selfish Giant” by Clio Barnard from Britain, “Mystery Road” by Ivan Sen from Australia, “The Great Beauty” by Paolo Sorrentino from Italy and “Tenderness” by Marion Hänsel from Belgium are among the films. The Dubai International Film Festival is a nonprofit cultural event that takes place annually in December in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
