Dutch nationals in Thailand to celebrate accession of new King, William Alexander

BANGKOK, April 24 (TNA) - The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangkok plans to organise an event to celebrate the accession to the throne of their new King, William Alexander, late this month. Dutch Ambassador to Thailand Joan A. Boer told journalists on Tuesday that April 30 will be a special day for the Dutch nationals to celebrate the last-day reigning of their Queen Beatrix and from April 30, 2013 onward, the Netherlands will be reigned by a King again, King William Alexander, after 123 years of Queens as the heads of state, since 1948. According to the top Dutch envoy, there will be a variety of festivities all across the Netherlands on April 30, marking the return to the throne of a Dutch King. The whole country and people will be decorated and dressed in orange and rejoice on such special day. Members of the royal families from countries across the world, including His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand, will attend a private ceremony and a royal reception of the new Dutch monarch, King William Alexander, together with relevant officials and registered public. In Bangkok, celebratory activities include a reception at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to be attended by international diplomats, Thai authorities, business operators, journalists and the Dutch community in Thailand. On the special day, the premise of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangkok will be decorated similarly to “De Nieuwe Kerk” or the new Church of Amsterdam, the venue of the Dutch monarch's accession to the throne, with large screen projectors to be installed to live broadcast the auspicious royal event, together with a mini concert by Thai musicians who graduated in the Netherlands. The Kingdom of the Netherland and the Kingdom of Thailand enjoy some 400 years of excellent ties. In present days, both countries join hands in various areas of cooperation, including education, arts and cultures, tourism and water management, particularly during Thailand’s flooding crisis in late 2011.
