EAEU-China trade and economic agreement to be negotiated in 2016 - EEC Chairman

BURABAY/Kazakhstan/, October 16. /TASS/. The talks between the Eurasian Economic Union /EAEU/ and China over trade and economic agreement will start in the first quarter of 2016, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission /EEC/ Collegium Viktor Khristenko said on Friday. "Heads of states just made a decision to start cooperation with the People’s Republic of China on preparing a trade and economic agreement. Hopefully, official talks will start already in the first quarter of next year," Khristenko said. Chairman also said about India’s preferential regime talks and about the decision to start talks over free trade zone with Israel. "All this makes up our midterm priorities for benefit of the EAEU member-states," he said. According to Khristenko, within the union’s conjugacy with Chinese project of Silk Road Economic Belt the issue of including the SCO /Shanghai Cooperation Organization/ countries into this process has been discussed. "I think this area will be one of the most important from the viewpoint of the union’s foreign economic prospects, and hopefully we’ll make fast progress in this respect," he added. Read more
