EAEU to sign free trade agreement with Vietnam

MOSCOW, May 29. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, together with his colleagues from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member-states will sign an agreement on Friday on free trade between the EAEU and Vietnam. "The document will be the first international treaty on the preferential terms of trade concluded by the union and a third party," a source in the central office of the Russian government told TASS. The agreement will be signed after a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council at the level of the heads of government to be held in the settlement Burabay in Kazakhstan, where Medvedev arrived the night before. The meeting is "to consider the issues of deepening cooperation between the union’s member-states in the macroeconomic, monetary and financial areas and measures aimed at promoting exports," the Russian Cabinet said. "The participants in the meeting will also discuss international cooperation of the EAEU, including the priority areas of trade and economic cooperation with the union’s major trade partners." "The heads of government will endorse a number of policy and strategy documents," a source in the Russian government noted. "Among them are the main directions of the Union’s economic development, action plans for the development of the consumer goods industry, production incentives and the use of motor vehicles with electric propulsion by the EAEU member-countries." A source in the central office of the Russian government added that Medvedev would held a number a bilateral meetings with the heads of the delegations of other countries on the sidelines of the meeting in Burabay and would take part in a meeting of CIS heads of government.
