Egypt for devising global anti-terrorist strategy - President el-Sisi

MOSCOW, August 27. /TASS/. Egypt is for devising a global strategy of fighting terrorism and not relying exclusively on the use of force, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi told TASS First Deputy Director General Mikhail Gusman in an exclusive interview following his visit to Moscow. The Egyptian leader pointed to some serious security problems in the Middle East and North Africa. "There are very large threats to all countries of the region, including Egypt. It should be recognized that terrorism endangers all current economic projects," he said. "Terrorists are expanding operations in Syria, Libya and Iraq. Nobody should stay idle and wait for a threat to emerge on one’s doorstep. The world must develop the awareness that this is a threat to the whole of humanity and to the entire system of international security," President el-Sisi said. "The way I see it, this is the worst threat." "States cooperate and handle their problems with neighbors under certain rules guided by all. But terrorism defies all rules and keeps doing as it pleases. Therefore it is necessary for the whole world, and not just the countries of the region, to coordinate efforts," President el-Sisi said. In his opinion it is not just the US-led coalition against the Islamic State and not just the coalition in Yemen that are obliged to must resist terrorism. "What I have in mind is the need for creating a universal, global coalition for struggle against terrorism," he said. "And this struggle should not be confined to the use of force. It is essential to address the root causes of terrorism and to formulate a global strategy for struggle against this ill." Read more
